Katie Hanquist

katieKatie is a fitness instructor in Beatrice, Ne at the YMCA. She is a full time mother to Barrett (22 months), wife to her husband Brady and mini farmer on the family acreage. Katie graduated from Doane College in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Mental Health. She then went on to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney where she was an assistant track coach and was accepted into the master’s program of Community Counseling. From there, she went into the field of Child and Family Services for the state of Nebraska where she investigated reports of child abuse and neglect.

While attending Doane, she was an 11 time All American in Track and Field, 15 time conference champion and member of eight team conference championships. In 2006 and 2007, she was named the Sharon Welch Woman Athlete-of-the-Year as the top female athlete at Doane. In 2006 and 2007 Katie was named the Lincoln Journal Star State College Female Athlete-of-the-Year for the state of Nebraska. In 2007, she received the Omaha World Herald Female Athlete-of-the-Year for the state of Nebraska. She also broke six school records. In 2007, Katie was the indoor national pentathlon champion and outdoor national heptathlon champion. On April 10, 2015 Katie (Kosmos) Hanquist was inducted into the Doane College Hall of Fame for her standout student athlete career in track and field. On May 15, 2015, she was then inducted nationally into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Katie has worked in the Division of Child and Family Services for the last five years. However, last September her greater calling was to stay at home full time with her son and provide a healthier, happier lifestyle and home for her family. Katie became a certified fitness instructor through Les Mills last fall and is a Body Pump Instructor.
