Missy Gearhart, INHC
Missy Gearhart is a loving wife and dog-mom, and looks forward to one day having children. She is a long-time vegetarian and runner and definitely gets the importance of whole food nutrition as fuel for the body. She became a vegetarian because she couldn’t shake the idea that there was something very wrong with this country’s meat production industry. She found herself diving into research to make sure her body was still getting the nutrition it needed. She began to notice that commercially raised meat was not the only problematic thing we might put into our bodies. Missy quickly realized, there are so many processed food-like substances out there are creating problems in our health – problems that are completely preventable!
Missy’s curiosity turned into passion, and she wanted to do more. She is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) as of March 2015, and is now a board certified health coach. At IIN, Missy learned about all kinds of dietary theories, but the underlying message was always the same: we all desperately need more whole foods, like fruits and veggies, and less processed food.
Now, Missy has started her own practice, called Holistic Honeybee, and is looking forward to creating a ripple effect of helping people to understand that chronic disease is preventable with good, whole food nutrition.
From one of Missy’s favorite songs, “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten: “Like a small boat, On the ocean; Sending big waves, Into motion; Like how a single word, Can make a heart open; I might only have one match, But I can make an explosion.”
